The Knoxville Chamber held The 14th Annual Pinnacle Awards on Friday, May 4th, 2018, honoring outstanding local businesses and entrepreneurs. This year Lloyd’s Electric Service, Inc. was proud to receive the Business Excellence Award for a mid-sized company employing between 51 and 200 people.

The Business Excellence Award is given to companies that are headquartered in Knoxville or have a significant impact in the area. Each year, the Knoxville Chamber recognizes one small, one mid-sized, and one large company for exceptional service, growth, and positive community influence, along with other special awards. Nominees are those that have been recognized regionally, nationally and/or internationally in their respective business sector while demonstrating strong leadership in that field. The companies nominated have each made significant investments in facilities and employees.

A Credit to Our Community

When asked what set Lloyd’s Electric Service, Inc. apart from other area businesses of similar size, President Doug Lloyd cited an innovative new apprenticeship program created in partnership with TCAT (Tennessee College of Applied Technology) of Knoxville as one example. The program educates candidates interested in pursuing careers in the technical service industry and provides on the job training. At the end of the 4-year program, successful participants receive their journeyman’s certificate and an opportunity to begin a career with Lloyd’s Electric Service, Inc. In addition to the positive impact this project will have on the lives of its initiates and in turn the community, the program provides a skilled labor force which will benefit our company and clients as well. As Doug himself put it, “It’s a win-win-win!”
